Running a multi-author WordPress site comes with its own challenges like stopping spam registrations, monitoring user activity and managing editorial workflow. If there are multiple users working on posts and pages, then there is a very good chance that you would miss some important changes. In this article, we will show you how to get instant email notifications for post changes in WordPress.

First thing you need to do is install and activate Email Post Changes plugin. After activating the plugin, you need go to Settings » Email Post Changes screen to configure the plugin settings.
On the plugin’s settings screen, you need to check Enable to enable email notifications. Below the enable checkbox you will see a list of users on your website. Check the users who will be receiving email notification for changes. You can also add additional email addresses to send notifications to email addresses that are not associated with a user account in WordPress.
The next option is to choose the post types for which you want to receive email notifications. By default, the plugin will show both posts and pages as checked. If you have other custom post types registered on your site, then those will also appear here.
Lastly, you need to choose whether you want to just receive email notifications for changes made to published posts, or for drafts as well. Once you are done setting up the plugin, click on Save Changes button to store these settings.
You will now start receiving email notifications when changes are made to posts or pages in WordPress. The emails you receive will show you who made the changes and at what time. The changes will be highlighted with colors, and you can see the difference between previous and current versions of the post. It is like the WordPress post revisions mailed directly to your inbox. If you want to edit those changes or revert them, then you can do so by using post revisions feature in WordPress.
Troubleshooting Emails
In order for this plugin to work, your WordPress install should be able to send email. We recommend using Gmail’s SMTP servers to make sure that your WordPress emails don’t land into the spam folder. Also note that the plugin works like the post revisions, so it shows difference in the post content. Any changes made to taxonomies or custom fields of a post or page will not be emailed.
